Claude can now build live updated dashboards in-app.

A live dashboard used to begin with a ticket. Someone asked a business question, an analyst translated it into SQL, and the answer arrived after the moment had cooled off.

Claude Dashboards changes that sequence. Anthropic says people on paid plans can connect Claude to data platforms such as BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, and Redshift, or enterprise tools like SAP and Salesforce, then ask a question in plain language. Claude builds a dashboard that updates as the data changes automatically.

Start with a question that already causes delays

Pick one recurring question that currently creates a queue on your team. Good candidates include weekly pipeline movement, month-to-date operating results, customer-support volume, or project delivery statuses - something that you send frequent email over.

Anthropic says each chart exposes the query behind it and shows when the data was last refreshed. Those details should make the MVP much easier to review for your team.

Run the same question through two checks.

First, inspect the query. Does it use the right table, date range, filters, exclusions, and joins? Plain language can hide a surprising amount of ambiguity. "Revenue this quarter" may mean booked revenue, recognized revenue, invoiced revenue, or cash collected. Give clear context in abundance to the AI.

Second, compare the result with the current trusted report. Best case: have Claude investigate any mismatch between historic data and templates your team has filled and it's own automated version before sharing the dashboard. We often run this exercise on 10+ historic examples to prove accuracy.

Keep your data analysts in the loop

Claude Dashboards can shorten the path from question to first answer. It does not remove the need for analytics expertise.

Analysts know which tables are reliable, which fields lag, and which definitions carry rough edges. Bring them into the test as reviewers and workflow designers. Their job shifts toward validating logic, improving reusable questions, and handling the analysis that deserves more depth.

Anthropic also says dashboards can be handed off to tools such as Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma for deeper work. That creates a practical division of labor. Claude handles the quick exploratory view. Your established analytics stack handles durable reporting and complex investigation.

Measure improvement

AI has suddenly taken custom dashboarding and reporting from enterprise contracting to single-workday-MVP, that doesn't mean everything needs a dashboard.

To prove that a new analytics or UI tool is useful please first measure the time from question to usable answer on the team and the volume of interested users in the platform.

One clean demo proves very little, but repeated use will show the workflow is dependable and is answering a real operational question for the team.

What to do this week

It only takes 45 minutes to try this out. Ask Claude to "build the dashboard, inspect the query, compare the numbers with the trusted report, and have the workflow owner use it in a real decision."

Use MCP connectors in Claude to give it live-access to your data sources.

If the result holds up, document the prompt and source data with your team. You now have the beginning of a repeatable analysis workflow, not another "AI demo."
